James L. Rose, DPM
James L. Rose, DPM is a native of Trenton, NJ. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978. In 1983 he graduated, Class Valedictorian, from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine (now the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine) in Philadelphia, PA where he enjoyed being active in academic affairs.
He completed a podiatric surgical residency program at Monsignor Clement Kern Hospital for Special Surgery in Detroit, MI. This hospital was one of the first in the country to be built by podiatrists, exclusively dedicated to the performance of foot and ankle surgery. Following his surgical training, Dr. Rose relocated to Alexandria, VA where he began private practice. He founded the Franconia Foot & Ankle Center and, subsequently, became certified in foot and ankle surgery in 1990 by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (now the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery).
In 1996, Dr. Rose decided to leave the chaos of Northern Virginia for a quieter, country-like environment, at which time, he relocated his practice to Anderson, SC. Dr. Rose continues to practice in Anderson at his current location of 2126-B Hwy 81 North, where he is joined by three associates, Dr. David Somers, Dr. Crista Ziccardi and Dr. Scott Bastian.
Dr. Rose is strongly committed to providing the best foot care for his patients and establishing a close professional relationship with them. He regularly attends continuing education courses held throughout the country. When appropriate, he enjoys using new technologies or techniques in his work. When necessary, he does not hesitate to consult with other specialists. Dr. Rose is a member of the South Carolina Podiatric Medical Association and American college of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Rose and his wife, Parrish, reside in Anderson. Both are active members of Anchor Point Church. They are members of the church choir and he is a member of the church board of directors. When not working, Dr. Rose and Parrish enjoy traveling and spending time with their families. After attending college and medical school in Philadelphia, is a sports enthusiast of all the Philly teams.
David M. Somers, DPM
Dr. Somers was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up both there and later in Aiken, South Carolina. After high school, he attended the University of South Carolina at its Aiken Campus, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2001.
Following this, he enrolled at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine), from which he earned his DPM degree in 2005. While there, he served as his class secretary, was a teaching assistant in anatomy, and received the William L. Goldfarb Foundation Education Award at graduation. Dr. Somers entered the residency program at the Harvard Medical-affiliated Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he received comprehensive training in all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery.
After completing his residency in 2008, Dr. Somers worked for private practices in the Boston suburbs for a year. He then decided to return home to South Carolina in 2009 in order to be closer to family and to leave the more stressful Boston life behind, at which time he joined Palmetto Podiatry Group of Anderson.
Dr. Somers is certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the South Carolina Podiatric Medical Association, and is currently serving as secretary for the state association.
When Dr. Somers is not providing podiatric care to the residents of the Upstate and surrounding areas, he enjoys snow skiing, hiking, photography, cooking, reading, and travel. He is also a craft beer enthusiast and an avid fan of all the sports teams from Pittsburgh.
Crista M. Ziccardi, DPM
Dr. Crista M. Ziccardi joined the Palmetto Podiatry team in 2014. Fairing from the great state of New Jersey, Dr. Ziccardi was born and raised outside the Philadelphia area to a large Italian family.
Dr. Ziccardi attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where she received her Bachelor of Science from the School of Nursing and Health Studies with a major in Health Sciences. After Georgetown, Dr. Ziccardi worked as the Cell Culture Lab Coordinator for the Coriell Institute in Camden, NJ, and finished her pre-medical education requirements at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.
Dr. Ziccardi then attended Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, and received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine. While at Temple, she was President of the student chapter of the American Professional Wound Care Association, and received the APWCA Award for exemplary knowledge and practice of wound care. She decided to further her education by completing a 3-year Podiatric Medical and Surgical Residency with a Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Certification at the Department of Veterans Affairs - New Jersey Health Care System in East Orange, NJ. During residency, Dr. Ziccardi served as Chief Resident, completed a Dermatopathology Fellowship with Bako Pathology in Alpharetta, GA, and completed several specialized rotations including Vascular Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Dermatology.
Dr. Ziccardi is Board Certified in Podiatric Medicine and actively maintains the honor of Diplomate with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and Fellow with the American College of Podiatric Medicine. She is an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the South Carolina Podiatric Medical Association. She also attends continuing medical education classes yearly so as to continue to provide updated care to her patients.
In 2016, Dr. Ziccardi was chosen to attend the first AnMed Health Physician Leadership Institute through the Executive Leadership Institute at Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina.
When she is not working, Dr. Ziccardi is spending time with her husband, Jason, her son, Everett, and her daughter, Leonora. She enjoys travelling, watching movies, hiking, swimming, going to the beach, and cooking.
Scott L. Bastian, DPM
Dr. Scott Bastian was born in Albany, NY and grew up in Madison, CT. He attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA., where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical engineering in 2008. He received a certificate in Bioinformatics and Database Management in 2011 and went on to earn his Master of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2012.
Dr. Bastian conducted research in the field of Nanotechnology at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY, and worked as Research Scientist developing surgical products at Covidien in North Haven, CT.
Dr. Bastian then attended Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, OH and received his DPM in 2017. While at Kent, he was class treasurer, and worked as teaching assistant in histology. He entered his residency program at Bridgeport Hospital Yale New Haven Health. During his residency, he received the Quality Moments Award for exceptional services in the field of Podiatry in 2018. In the following year, he received the Quality Care Award, an award presented to a resident in Yale New Haven Health Hospital System for exceptional patient care. Dr. Bastian was then elected Chief resident in his senior year. During his 3 years of residency, Dr. Bastian received extensive training in; wound care, limb salvage, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
When Dr. Bastian is not working, he enjoys swimming, traveling, hiking, going to the beach and cheering on his favorite sport teams.
